FAQ
Common Questions
Is everything I share during sessions confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a core principle of our practice. Everything you share is kept private, except in situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if disclosure is required by law. Your trust and safety are our priorities.
What can I expect in and after starting therapy?
Our aim is to offer a space that feels safe, supportive, and empowering, where healing is possible. Whether it was something recent, something long ago, or something you’re still living through, we're here to help. At Connect Corner Clinic, our psychologists and mental health social workers are trained in trauma-informed approaches that create a safe and supportive environment for healing. Speak with your practitioner and allow them to introduce you to some of the approaches that can be used. Our practitioners will help you understand what’s available, so you can begin to imagine what support could look like for you (or your child).
What if I don't think I'm ready to talk about everything yet?
That’s okay. You don’t have to share your whole story on the first session. If you’re here, you may be feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or even scared about starting therapy. It's how any person would feel when they are carrying the weight of past trauma, painful memories, or emotional difficulties that feel too big to manage alone. The truth is that simply reaching this page is an act of courage. And we’re here to walk alongside you as you take the next step.
Therapy is tailored to your pace and your goals. The role of your therapist isn’t to pressure or push, but to gently support you in building tools to feel more in control of your emotions, your memories, and your life.
How do I know what I'm dealing with is Trauma?
Trauma results from exposure to single-incident or repeated incidents of severe distress. This can include multiple interpersonal traumatic events (often beginning in childhood) within a caregiving relationship. It often leads to lasting impacts on emotional regulation, self-esteem and interpersonal functioning. Trauma can severely affect identity, attachment, emotional regulation, and trust in others
Do you offer online sessions?
Yes, we offer both in-person and online counselling sessions to provide flexible support. Virtual sessions are conducted securely, ensuring the same level of confidentiality and care as face-to-face appointments.
